We know you have been riding and training, and you are eager to get out and enjoy a cycling event, to fulfill your training goals, and test your fitness. That’s why we have worked with our partners to create a GPS Solo Fondo version of the Jensie Gran Fondo. From September 11th through September 28th you can ride the Jensie Gran Fondo routes and compete via GPS tracking.
What is the Jensie Solo Fondo?
A Solo Fondo is a Gran Fondo you complete on your own any time within a specific date range and on an official course. For years we’ve worked with RidewithGPS.com to provide riders with downloadable routes and turn-by-turn directions, and with assistance from Ride with GPS, we can now post the timing results of your ride on any of the Jensie Gran Fondo routes.
Though all 2020 route maps start and finish in Novato, Riders do not need to start and finish from any exact location, you can conveniently merge onto the route at any point and ride the loop. We expect riders to follow their chosen route and complete at least 90% of it. For instance, there is no requirement for a rider to ride the 4-mile stretch of Novato Blvd at the start and finish of the standard route. To access the event and take part you will need a Ride with GPS account (a free account works fine). Instructions for taking part are below.
Route maps have been slightly altered from previous years and have been updated to include DIY food and water locations.View route maps.
Standings on the leaderboards will be based on timed segments. Riders need to complete all time segments included in their chosen route and do so within the same ride. However, times sections can be completed in any order so long as they are consecutive. For example if a 100-mile rider gets onto the route in Stinson Beach (around mile 40) they would ride the complete circuit and four timed segments, but do so in a different order than a rider who starts in Fairfax (around mile 20). Riders can complete their ride and upload their file to Ride with GPS anytime from September 11th through September 28th.
Athletes are encouraged to maintain social distancing on course, avoid congregating in large groups, wear masks where social distancing is not possible, and follow all local and state health guidelines. For clarity, we expect group sizes to be no greater than 10 people, but recommend limiting groups to 5 riders.
