The Jensie Solo Fondo will be held September 1-30, 2021, utilizing The Jensie Gran Fondo routes in Marin County, CA.  We will be using your favorite courses from the 2018 and earlier editions of The Jensie Gran Fondo.

What is The Jensie Solo Fondo?

A Solo Fondo is a Gran Fondo you complete on your own any time within a specific date range and on an official course. For years we’ve worked with RidewithGPS.com to provide riders with downloadable routes and turn-by-turn directions, and with assistance from Ride with GPS, we can now post the timing results of your ride on any of the routes on the leaderboard for Overall and Age Group competitions.

Riders do not need to start and finish from any exact location, you can conveniently merge onto the route (no need to go to the start/finish.). Riders are expected to ride about 90% of their route and complete all time segments that count in the distance they are riding.

Route maps for all 3 distances offered in The Jensie Solo Fondo will be available for download to athletes who register for the event. Rider must upload their ride file to RidewithGPS.com to have their official results added to the leaderboards, be eligible to acquire Series points, earn qualification for the 2022 Gran Fondo National Championship, and be eligible to win the following raffle prizes:

- Hyperice Hypervolt
- Hyperice Hypersphere
- Industry Nine hubset
- Lazer Sphere MIPS helmet
- Cane Creek components
- Bike Flights travel voucher
- Shimano components
- Shott Performance coaching package.

The Jensie Solo Fondo is a self-supported ride, meaning there will be no aid stations or mechanical support on course. Maps will be provided that include DIY water, food, and resource locations. Links to join the Solo Fondo event will be provided to riders after registering.

Classic Marin County Routes

We’re back in Marin County, CA for the great courses you love! The long course is called the “Shut Up Legs” route for a reason. Climbs on the Jensie Solo Fondo routes can be 30-60 minutes long, as you ride from the beach into the towering redwood forests. The “Presidential” is great for riders who want a challenge on a shorter route, and the “Breakaway” is an easier route that is a perfect introduction to the Jensie Solo Fondo.

Best of the Bay Area

It can be hard to believe such quiet and scenic roads can be found so close to one of the world’s most influential cities. For travelers, complete your weekend with a trip over the Golden Gate Bridge, a visit to Alcatraz, or some of the San Francisco’s famous museums and world-renowned restaurants. For the large local cycling community, it’s a chance to enjoy a new route or revisit a classic course.

TIMED SEGMENTS & FOOD/WATER STOPS

  • Each Ride with GPS route has timed segments marked in it. These segments will be used for the purposes of Jensie Solo Fondo age group competitions.

  • Convenient stores and public water sources are noted on the Ride with GPS maps.

Time Sections: (THE COMPETITION) – This is not a start-to-finish race. Your overall time from start to finish does not matter for this competition. Only the timed segments count.  Your overall, age group, and gender rankings are determined by your combined time for all timed segments on the route you choose. View Complete Rules and FAQ.

Rules

You Must Obey Traffic Laws. This is not a closed course. That means stop at lights and stop signs. Think Safety First.

Do not cause an accident!!!

Be respectful of others on the road!

NEVER CROSS THE CENTER-LINE OF THE ROAD!!!

During all race sections you have the right of way. When you are outside of race sections you do not have the right of way. You will not be racing through any intersections; this means when you come to a sign or signal you should slow down, stop, and be safe.

As you approach the time sections you must travel through the designated area (in your lane of traffic!) so that your chip can be properly read and recorded.  The times for your timed sections will be compiled for your review at the finish. 103 & 86 mile = 4 timed sections; 64 mile = 3 timed sections; 25 mile = 1 timed section. You can view all the details for timed section on the above map links, click the map icons for details.

Timed sections are open for specific durations. In order to be timed and eligible for awards you must maintain a progression speed between 23mph and 10mph. NOTE: this is progression speed not average speed, progression speed includes all stopped time. Below is a list stating the times sections are open
