Everyone who registers and completes at least one E-Fondo Series event will be eligible for podium awards and entered into a series raffle for valuable prizes from our sponsors. There will be one prize raffle for the series, and participants earn 1 raffle ticket for each event completed. So the more events you ride the more chances you have to win! To reserve your spot in the peloton for an event, YOU WILL HAVE TO REGISTER ON THE WAHOO X RGT CYCLING APP.. Start time links are available below. After filling out the form below, scroll down to the start time links, choose your event, and click on the start time link, which will open on the Wahoo RGT Cycling website on your mobile device or computer. E-FONDO SERIES EVENT SCHEDULE

The Gran Fondo National Series presents the event schedule for the 6-event E-Fondo Series. The third-annual e-sports cycling competition features timed segments and leverages Wahoo RGT’s innovative “Magic Roads” to recreate the Series’ real-world courses in a virtual environment. The E-Fondo Series will run from January 15, 2022 through February 19, 2023 with multiple opportunities for riders to compete on each course, and the opportunity to qualify for the 2023 USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships event in Frederick, Maryland on September 17, 2023.

The schedule of events offers three start times each Sunday for riders to complete events.

The E-Fondo Series is being run in addition to the full calendar of Gran Fondo National Series outdoor events.

Registration, Awards and Prizes

E-Fondo Series events are free to enter.

E-Fondo Series Points Competition

Racers must complete at least three events to qualify for E-Fondo Points Series titles.  At each event, a rider’s points equal their placing in that event. 1st place gets one point, 2nd place gets 2 points….37th place gets 37 points. Your series standing is determined by adding the three lowest scores together. For exampls, if a rider finishes 3rd at one event, 8th at another event, and 1st in their last event; the riders E-Fondo Series score would be 12; (3+8+1=12).  If you participate in more than three events your worst score will be dropped and only your best three finishes will be calculated towards your overall score. 

USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships Qualification

To compete in the 2023 USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships event, riders must first qualify for a starting slot. Qualifications slots will be awarded based on rider’s placement in one or more of the 6 official E-Fondo Series events on Wahoo RGT.

To qualify, a rider must achieve one of the results below:

• TOP 25% IN POINTS COMPETITION
  Finish in the E-Fondo Series Points Competition in your age group, based on the number of starters in that age group

• TOP 3 IN INDIVIDUAL E-FONDO EVENT
  Finish in the top 3 of an age group category in E-Fondo Series event, regardless of the number of starters

• COMPLETE 2+ E-FONDO EVENTS
  Complete two (2) or more E-Fondo Series events

RAFFLE

E-Fondo Series events are free to enter. Riders who register for and compete in the E-Fondo Series will be automatically entered in a Prize Raffle for chances to win products from series sponsors.

There will be one prize raffle for the series. Riders earn one raffle ticket for each event they participate in, so the more events a rider enters, the more chances they have to win.

Gran Fondo National Series and Wahoo X Launch 6-Event E-Fondo Series

Gran Fondo National Series Event Director, Reuben Kline, chose to create the E-Fondo Series with Wahoo X on the Wahoo RGT platform, because of the simulator’s focus on realistic rider dynamics. In a head-to-head comparison with Zwift, cycling website Cyclingnews.com noted Wahoo RGT “is more realistic… thanks to its in-game physics that, in addition to drafting, also include cornering and bunch positioning.” 

Kline added, “We wanted the indoor and outdoor experiences on Gran Fondo National Series courses to be as similar as possible, and realistic in-game physics is what Wahoo RGT does best. They were also excited to integrate our timed-section competition format, complete with on-screen graphics and tracking rider results over multiple segments and events.

The schedule of events offers 3 start times for riders to compete on each course. “The E-Fondo Series is open to riders around the world, so we are providing dates and start times to accommodate a wide range of time zones,” said Kline.
